EIITAB - Chapter 51 < Leaving For Kalathi >

Even If It Is Trampled And Broken

The next day. Hestia's eyes opened brightly without warning. Her condition this morning wasn't so bad that it was to put to shame that she had been sore the night before.

Hestia sighed as she placed her hand on her forehead once and then removed it.

She said, 'I don't even have a slight fever. Will the fever keep rising and falling like this over and over again?'

She felt that if she continued like this later on, people would start whispering and wonder if she was faking it.

'Anyway, it's better to hide the pain as much as possible.'

Even if she sees a doctor, nothing will change.

 'Because it's not a disease.'

She's the only one who suffers anyway, so she just has to bear it. Now that she's going to be living in Kalathi, it's obvious that if she shows off her pain, she'll only incur opposition from the people around her. So, she decided to not reveal it anymore.

Hestia pulled her legs out of her bed and pulled on her leash to get Angela to get the wash.

"I think it would be good to rest for a few more days."

"No. I should go with the Duke."

"The Princess too."

Hestia changed into her thick winter clothes and went straight down to the first floor. Unlike her bedroom, she was quite fussy. This was because they had decided to leave for Kalathi today.

However, after seeing that Hestia was not in good health at the end of her wedding yesterday, she was worried about her and accepted Angela's opinion for a long time. She advised Hestia to restore her body and come to Kalathi as her successor. But she insisted.

Hestia also had no reason to remain in the capital. Moreover, if she remained here alone without Aslan, the temple and Anette could concoct a plan and narrow her range of movement again.

She has to follow. Even if Aslan tied her up and threw her in the bedroom of the Kalathi Mansion, she had already promised herself several times that she would follow him tenaciously.

Hestia looked around her with determined eyes. Aslan was ordering his lieutenants to do something. Hestia approached Aslan at the same time as his lieutenants left their seats.

"Good morning. I don't know if I prepared too late."

As she approached Aslan, he clicked his tongue briefly.

"Anyway, I insisted."

His face looked astonished at her determination not to rest any longer. However, Aslan did not force her to rest more. Instead, he just made threats.

"It won't be easy to see a doctor on the way to Kalathi. It means there will be no one to take care of you if you fall."

"Why are you saying this with the assumption that I will fall again?"

"You've already collapsed twice, right?"

"To be exact, once during the night banquet. Yesterday you just picked me up."

"I won't say a word. Shit. Princess, if my arrival schedule is delayed because of you..."

"That won't happen. Do not worry."

"Tsk. Do whatever you feel like."

He left Hestia's side and quickly moved to the other side. This was because Yorgos and the High Priest came to the Kalathi Mansion in person to see them off.

Hestia turned towards the carriage where she was loading her luggage with an embarrassed look on her face. Then she watched with embarrassment as Angela loaded her luggage into her carriage.

"Anyway, he is like that too."

Finally, she sighed and called her maid.

"Angela, think again now. Are you sure you don't mind following me?"

"Oh, you too, Princess! No matter how many times you ask me, my answer is the same! I'm going to follow you, Princess!"

"But..."

"Anyway, I have no connection here other than the Princess. It's a temple. I'm not a priest, so I couldn't go in and worship, but it's not the Duchy of Kalathi."

Angela seemed unable to relax even after that, so she clung to Hestia's side, quickly wrapped her arms around her, and began to show off her charms.

"So take responsibility and take me with you, Princess. If the Princess doesn't take me with you, I will definitely be unemployed."

"You too...."

Hestia nodded with a heavy heart, looking like she couldn't stop her.

She is who she is. If Angela comes along, it's a good thing because it means she has a place to put her heart. But it must have been hard work for Angela, and she wanted to leave it behind if at all possible.

However, despite her repeated attempts to dissuade Angela, Hestia showed such strong will that Hestia eventually allowed Angela to accompany her, pretending not to be able to win.

After a small scuffle, Hestia walked away to say goodbye to Yorgos and the High Priest. They were already talking to Aslan.

"Then please take care of Hestia."

"I'll try my best."

Aslan was not good at empty words, so he answered bluntly. Although they were somewhat organized, the area around them was a mess. This was because the cart contained more gifts from Yorgos than usual. Under the pretext of marrying Hestia, the royal family prepared many more gifts than originally planned to show the North that they cared much more than the North thought.

It was obvious what he was thinking, but Aslan didn't bother to be sarcastic. In any case, the opponent was the King of Ellsworth, and he had no intention of refusing to receive what he needed for the sake of his pride.

After a while, Martin approached and reported to Aslan.

"Your Excellency, preparations are complete. Now all you have to do is set off."

Aslan nodded his head and looked back at Yorgos and the High Priest. However, they did not pay a single glance to Aslan and were only staring at Hestia.

"Saintess, if anything happens, you must contact me."

"Go and contact me."

They think Hestia is going to die. Aslan swallowed the sarcasm in his heart.

"Do not worry too much. I'm going to be fine."

Hestia cut off their greeting with a smile. She probably won't ever come back here again.

"I'll just go now. I hope everyone stays healthy."

With her final greeting, she got into her carriage. Because she had no regrets, there was no need to look back.

 ***

Since it was passing through the city, the carriage could hardly speed up. Hestia was sitting in the carriage with Angela and drawing the curtains. But that didn't mean she couldn't hear the sounds outside. When many small sounds come together, they become one big buzz. Especially if the public was talking about the same thing, certain words or sentences were more likely to catch the ear.

"I guess that's the barbarian Duke's procession."

"Wow, he's finally coming back now. I was wondering when he would go."

Then Hestia heard a child ask a question.

"But why is Duke Kalathi a barbarian?"

"In the past, His Majesty and the temple sent a knight and a priest to support the North. But when the priest came back, he described the Duke who slaughtered the demonic beasts as looking like a barbarian or something."

"I do not understand. Duke Kalathi is protecting us from winter, right?"

Hestia nodded her head. She also had the same thought. However, the adult who was answering the child's question soon sounded embarrassed, as if he had never thought deeply about the issue.

"Well, really?"

Then, as if he was asking about everything, he started blaming the child.

"But what does it matter? You guys!"

With the adult's scolding, the opportunity to change the perception disappeared once again. Inside her carriage, Hestia swallowed her sigh. No matter how many times she thought back, she realized that what the child said was right. The people of Kalathi indeed sacrificed themselves to prevent the winter from moving south, and peace in the south is being achieved based on their sacrifice.

So, in a normal social atmosphere, they should have paid homage to Aslan and felt noble for his and Kalathi's sacrifices. However, the perception of the kingdom's citizens was distorted. It was because of the royal family and temple operations.

Yorgos, who suddenly ascended to the throne and had an unstable support base, caused the perception that 'winter is Kalathi' to spread widely in the world. Hestia was wondering if that would work, but it was more effective than she thought. This is because it would have been too easy for Aslan Kalathi, who clearly existed, to become an enemy rather than the disaster of winter, which was invisible and could not be dealt with by manpower.

Moreover, Yorgos was able to keep the Kalathi duchy in check, so he killed two birds with one stone. There was no need for a more outstanding hero than the King.

The fabrication that started like that delved into the unstable social atmosphere and took root naturally. Having someone to face together helped unite the South, which had not yet been consumed by winter. It also became a stepping stone to rely on and support Yorgos and the temple. This is because the greater the fear, the simpler the thinking. The kingdom's citizens needed something to calm their anxious minds. So everyone agreed to build an 'Insurmountable' wall.

While Kalathi, going between life and death in the North, did their best to stop winter, the southerners held back Kalathi.

Yorgos and the temple's strategy was quite effective, and the kingdom's citizens naturally despised the northerners. Many people even considered the fair price Kalathi received as plunder. The people of the Southern Kingdom were just swept along without thinking much about it. It was because the absurdity that Aslan and Kalathi experienced was none of their business.

Hestia should have corrected it then.
