IDEFYEM - Chapter 20

IDEFYEM - Chapter 20

Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!

A man who looks like a knight like that is a libertine.

I once again realized that my way of looking at people was the worst.

Now that I think about it, it seems like I've often heard that kind of thing before.

They say I have a good sense of humor, but I can't tell people apart.

Hmm. How fortunate I am to have met Kael.

After being lost in my thoughts for a moment, I glanced at Tristan, who had become quiet again.

Blonde hair and dark green eyes that sparkle under the sunlight, and a well-trained body.

Looking at it again, it looked neat, as if it had been drawn by a skilled artist.

The shell is a waste! As I was thinking about it, he said.

"What she said is not true. Because she has been very strict with me since long ago, things have often happened unfairly."

The woman holding the back of her neck opened her mouth.

"If you say even one more word to Lady Wintersoar. I'll see."

The man, who took a step back from her strong attitude, greeted me.

"Well then. I hope we can meet again and resolve any misunderstandings."

"See you again!"

"Go away."

I chuckled as I got to see a new side of the Marchioness.

She helped me into the room with a look on her face that was a mixture of shame for showing off her private parts and anger toward Tristan.

***

When I made a compress with herbs brought by the maid, the swelling in my ankles quickly went down.

The Marchioness said the pain would disappear tomorrow.

"I can't live with such shame. This is what I first saw after inviting the Young Lady to my house...."

"No, I don't have an older brother or younger brother, so I'm actually jealous."

The Marchioness narrowed her eyes as if wondering what that meant.

"Even though the Young Lady looks gentle, you can be naive at times, so I am very worried."

"To that extent...."

"Even if you ever encounter that guy again, be sure to avoid him."

"Oh, no way. As I said, I'm going to get married soon."

I'm going to do it with someone other than the Archduke.

Then, suddenly, the Marchioness's face turned red and blue.

"Do you know why he is staying at the Marquis' residence now?"

"Uh, no?"

"I joined the Holy Knights at age 18 and left the family, but after a year I was expelled for having an inappropriate relationship with a nun. "t was my responsibility to clean up after that!"

Ah.

"After that, he messed with innocent village girls and the family maids and maids. Not to mention the noble ladies we meet at the banquet. I finally gave up and left him to live as he pleases, and now he joined some wandering knights' order and got kicked out because he had an affair with the leader's wife!"

WOW.

I muttered quietly.

The Marchioness, who couldn't control her excitement and shouted, soon seemed to come to her senses, sighed, and asked to keep the secret.

Nodding my head repeatedly, I boarded the carriage heading back before the sunset.

They say that people easily become friends by gossiping about others.

I don't know how the Marchioness feels, but I thought today's meeting was a success.

The guy named Tristan was also interesting, he was a libertine with a straight face.

Well, that's assuming he doesn't get more involved with me...

***

As if to directly deny that thought,  something unexpected happened at the front gate of the Count's residence when we arrived not long after.

"Oh, Lady! Wait a minute!"

It was a voice I heard as I got off the carriage and was limping away.

A young boy whose face I had never seen before. His face was covered in sweat as if he had rushed from somewhere.

"Huh. The Lady of House Wintersoar, Is that correct? OMG."

"Oh my God, that's right. What happened that made you run like this?"

The boy, wiping his sweat with the back of his hand, handed me a flower wrapped in paper and said.

"A man told me to tell you this. I've already received my wages, so I'll go!"

"Let me know who delivered it..."

What's so urgent? I wish I could at least have a glass of water.

I forgot about the pain in my ane and looked at the back of the boy who was already out of sight. I habitually moved my arms and inhaled the scent of the flowers in my hands

This orange rose.

Wasn't it blooming under the Marchioness's patronage earlier?

When I unwrapped the paper with some hope, the smooth writing, as expected, was revealed.

[I want to be remembered as a flower instead of an injured ankle.]

The gesture made his hands cringe, and an absurd smile appeared on his lips.

"The Marchioness has reason to worry."

"What are you worried about?"

"It's a mom!"

I shouted, startled by a voice suddenly coming from behind me.

Why are there so many surprises today?

The owner of the voice was a familiar and handsome face.

Blue eyes sparkled between friendly smiles.

"Kael? Wasn't it something that wasn't at the Count's residence?"

"I just got back. As soon as she came, she looked for you, but she said she was away so I waited."

It's been a few days since I haven't seen his face, so I was very happy when he showed up as a surprise.

"Great, Please help me inside. I had a slight sprain earlier."

"Are you hurt?"

He suddenly narrowed his eyebrows and took on a serious expression, which made me laugh out loud.

"I wasn't hurt at all. Is it just as pain? Pick me up."

"That's Okay. Just show me your arms."

"I told you to do it. Would you rather be hugged?"

"Wow, why do you guys want to hug me so much today?".

Oops. I think it would have been better not to talk about this.

Kael tilted his face to the side, making it difficult to read.

"Did you start dating while I was away?"

"No, what are you talking about?

"I came here briefly at the invitation of the Marchioness Dyke."

He said after looking at the flowers and short letter in my hand.

"It doesn't seem to be the Marchioness work, so should I be jealous?"

My lips pursed at the unexpected reaction.

"Are you jealous?"

"I can do it, right? We're getting married soon."

"Oh!"

I remembered something very important from what Kael had said as a joke.

"The Marchioness still thinks I'm going to marry the Archduke? Hasn't the whole rumor been spread?"

For a moment, a troubled look crossed the man's face.

"If you are Marchioness Dyke, you are not interested in rumors."

After thinking about it carefully. I finally asked..

"But still, when we first met, we held hands and danced in front of people, right? Kael even came to pick me up not long ago."

"He will also be famous as an unbiased person."

Something is strange. Kael lifted me out of my distress without giving me time to think further.

From experience, in times like this, it was useless to say anything, so I just hugged him quietly.

"Isn't it heavy?"

"I was thinking that the chef might be negligent in his work. It's too light."

"Wow, I really don't know. The food here is really delicious!"

I was passing by in the arms of Kael, who was smiling lightly.

"OMG.."

"Why is that?"

"Hey, I made eye contact with the stable guy. If you don't know that I hurt my ankle, they might criticize you for showing off your arms."

"That's good. Please spread the word more."

"You're kidding, right?"

He made a shh hand gesture at the middle-aged man with a confused expression.

The stable keeper nodded, half in awe. Then, as if I suddenly realized something, I looked to my left.

There was another maid there, looking at me like she was dumbfounded.

Oh, it's ruined. Should I hide my face right now?

As I thought and snuggled into Kael's arms, my gaze met dozens of men on a distant hill.

"Was there a knight order at the Count's residence?"

"Yes."

"... How many people have you shown this to now?"

"There's someone at the window too, haha."

Hearing those words, he urgently raised his head.

While looking this way, I saw people making eye contact with Kael, sighing, and running away.

"Enri, it's okay to not cover your face."

"How can you not hide it. I'm sure everyone already knows."

She said, burying her head in the man's arms and covering her face.

He smiled pleasantly and soon opened his mouth.

"It's really okay. It seems like everyone has gone back to their job."

When I lifted my chin at those words, I couldn't even see where all the people had gone.

"Did you do something?"

"Not really."

My suspicion seemed to be evident in the way I pressed my lower liр. Kael explained with his mouth slightly tilted.

"If the employees were rude, I would like to apologize on their behalf. Everyone must have been curious because this kind of sight is rare."

"The sight of me being carried by you?"

"To be exact, it's the sight of me laughing or talking to someone."

Meanwhile, the man took the stairs to the second floor and arrived in front of the room. I was both sorry and surprised that he didn't show any signs of distress while holding me the whole time.

I asked, holding on to the man who put me down on the soft bed.

"So, you were alone here before I came? I haven't heard anything about your family or relatives."

I finally ask this question.

Kael paused for a moment and then answered.

"Do you want me to answer honestly?"

"I guess so? It's okay if you don't say anything if it's difficult."

"Most of them are dead."

I blinked with my eyes wide open. The reason I was taken aback was not because of the unexpected content, but because of the facial expression he made while saying those words.

A smiled as if he had given up trying to act regretfully and was slightly relieved.

A fragment of the last sentence that flows out between them.

"Some in my hands."
