EITAB - Chapter 6 Intercepted Oracle

Even if it is Trampled and Broken

Death is predestined after a year anyway, so Hestia can do as she pleases. Hestia hurriedly closed her eyes and scooped the soup into her mouth, pretending not to know about the oracle. The meal ended in a quiet atmosphere.

Just before the empty bowls were gone and the desserts were brought in, Anette stood up. Naturally, the eyes of the people were drawn to her. Anette opened her mouth, her hands clasped, with a clear face and clear voice.

"Thank you for coming together to celebrate me like this today!"

Anette opened her mouth as expected.

"But today I have one more important thing to tell you..."

Hestia could feel her deliberately lengthening the tail. Hestia calmly took her breath so as not to miss the moment, and then she immediately opened her mouth.

"Excuse me for a moment."

Hestia's interruption shifted the eyes of her people from her Anette to her. It was quite a burden to her, but she didn't express it and opened her mouth.

"Finally, I have something to tell you. Because all the people who are hard to see are gathered....... I would like to borrow this opportunity."

She hurriedly swallowed her dry saliva, and she immediately followed up.

"Because it's not a very important story. I'd like to give her words before Saintess Anette, is that okay?"

"Yes? Ah! Ses sure! Sure!"

Anette smiled and nodded her head, with her face showing that her generosity was enough.

"Thank you for your understanding."

After expressing her gratitude towards Anette, Hestia stood up. After secretly reading her trembling heart, she reaped it and immediately put her main point into her mouth.

"I want to give up my position as a Saintess."

As if she had heard something unexpected, The High Priests, other priests, and Anette's eyes widened.

"... Yes?"

"No, what are you talking about now!"

There was a commotion in the hall. Hestia continued her speech without being shaken at all.

"Saintess Anette has been doing external activities for a long time, so you won't feel very much about my vacancy"

"But, Saintess.......!"

"My intention is firm. I'm not feeling well, so I want to put down my job and take a break."

The priest's reaction was not good. She tried to placate her with all sorts of words, but Hestia had no intention of backing down.

"Everyone, please know that I'm not blindly stubborn. There were circumstances that forced me to make this decision."

 "What's the matter?"

Hestia deliberately bit her lower lip and then released it, so calmly putting lie into her mouth.

"Last night, I heard the voice of God."

"That word... ...! Are you saying you heard the oracle?"

"Yes, that's right."

Again, chatter spread like a veil among the priests. The atmosphere was completely different from before. Anette, apparently sensing something strange, raised her hand to her somewhat impatient face and tried to interrupt Hestia.

"Everyone! Actually, last night I.....!"

But, unfortunately, her words could not carry on to the end. It was because, in a very rare case, Anette's words were cut off by the High Priest.

"Sorry, Anette. Since the matter is the matter, I think we should first listen to Saintess Hestia's story."

It must have been the first time she had been treated like this since coming to the temple, so her face was embarrassed. Hestia always had a calm face. There was no need to rush, so her red lips opened slowly.

"The oracle was simple."

Everyone held their breath and waited for Hestia's next words. Deliberately pausing for a moment, she slowly turned her head to stare directly at Anette.

"God El Rafa says that my life is only one year away."

At that moment, a thick silence settled in the hall. Anette also looked at Hestia with her pale face in an instant. She looked very perplexed.

'Yeah, I bet you didn't expect me to tell you this story first.'

Hestia stared at Anette silently to see her reaction.

'Anette, what are you going to do now?"

Of course, since it was a question she asked internally, Anette wouldn't listen. Anette gritted her teeth and quickly retrieved her paper, which she had earlier handed to her priest who sat next to her.

Since Hestia exploded the bomb first, no one is paying attention to her anymore, so she must have judged that it would be difficult for her to announce her 'real oracle' in this place.

'It's the same content anyway, so the level of attention must be different.'

There was a big difference between Hestia telling her own tragedy calmly and announcing by the stranger, Anette.

Anette chewed her lips in displeasure as if she had missed a good opportunity. Then, hiding the paper under the table, she tried to turn her gaze back to Hestia. Hestia, who quickly locked at her before their eyes met, let out a sigh in her secret.

'I'm glad I stopped Anette from speaking this from her mouth anyway!'

And her reaction, which she now showed, convinced her. That in her past life, Aneyte had deliberately broken the oracle today, when key figures gathered.

'If Anette really thought of me, It's a problem that she could have come to me and told me first.'

However, no matter how much Hestia searched her memory, there was no such discussion.

Because of that, the only emotions left for Hestia that day were embarrassment, despair, shame, and sadness.

'It's not different from what I hoped would get me into trouble.'

Power was added to Hestia's fist as she was lowering it.

"It's not right now, but since God said that my holy power will be withdrawn soon, my strength will gradually weaken. So, I would like to give up my position as a Saintess according to the natural order."

Meanwhile, Bosswa and other high-ranking priests were still raising their voices in confusion.

"Why did El Rafa give such an oracle?"

 "This makes no sense!"

"Holy Lady! Did you have anything else to say?"

They looked at Hestia with her desperate face as if she were asking Hestia for her answer.

Seeing the bewildered faces of the people who had put off Hestia for Aneyye so far, somehow, Hestia felt that this situation was a little funny.

"Saintess, please give me an answer."

Hestia lightly shook her head. Her holy-looking silver hair fluttered, and then she sat down lightly in her place without a single tangle.

"I don't know any more than this. Everything just works out as His will."

At Hestia's calm voice, her deep sighs flowed like a slow river through the priests.

If it was the same as before, she would have looked at them, wondering what to do with each and every little sound. However, as if death had taken something from her in exchange for turning back time, Hestia stopped paying attention to them. As if she was okay with the priests's planting, she continued to say only what she had to say.

"Like you, I am a body that serves God. So no matter how great my personal regrets are, I think His will should come first."

"Huh....... Yes, it is."

"It's because we're embarrassed."

Other priests, led by her high priest, reluctantly shook their heads and murmured in small voices.

In fact, from their point of view, it would have been very unfortunate for Hestia to escape the influence of the temple. It was because the temple was able to establish a close relationship with the royal family of Ellsworth simply by having Hestia, a royal family, stay in the temple as a Saintess, instead of taking good care of her and not taking care of her.

Compared to the previous generation, her power was weak, but still, the support for the Ellsworth royal family was as strong as support for the temple. As a result, Hestia's approval rating among the people of the kingdom was stronger than expected. As a new Saintess appeared, the forces diverged a little, but there was still an unmoved class.

No matter how much Anette had her superpowers, it meant that Hestia was actually considered more noble.

But what if Hestia, who played the role of a mistress between the temple and the world, gave up her position as a Saintess?

If not immediately, faith in the temple and all relationships might gradually crack. Not only that but thanks to the concession made by the royal family, the temple had to hold onto the right again.

The High Priests swallowed the sound of suffering with her face in a very complex head.

It's quite a pity to let go of the hand of Saintess Hestia. Their loss is too great.

Bosswa thought as she clicked her tongue in her mouth. Hestia was a symbolic existence that served as a bridge between the royal family and the temple. However, as Yorgos only took care of her well-being with her words, and did not take care of her carefully or care for her, the High Priests also secretly neglected Hestia.

In addition, since she had not received another trust for over 10 years, the general priests had no choice but to take care of Hestia less than Anette, and now she regretted her negligence. Meanwhile, Hestia took a deep breath and continued her words.

"I think you all know. How hard have I been working for the past 10 years? So, I want to spend the remaining year of my life focusing only on myself. I think everyone will listen to this much."

After her words, Hestia stared straight ahead as if she would not answer any more questions. She looked at her with an expression that Anette couldn't understand.

Meanwhile, Hestia was calming her trembling heart.

'This bought me time. I think everyone will listen to this much."
